Dee Roof is an illustrator, designer & educator researching native plants and pollinators of North America. She earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Tyler School of Art of Temple University in Philadelphia in 1998. As a part of this program, she studied at the Tyler Rome Campus. From Philadelphia, her graphic design work took her to Chicago then to Kansas City where she designed gift wrap and stationery for Hallmark Cards. In 2017, she returned to study and also to teach design at Kansas State University, culminating in her MFA degree and installation piece titled PolleNative exhibited at KSU’s Mark A. Chapman Gallery in 2020. She brought PolleNative to the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Conservation Center in Kansas City, MO in 2021. She and her husband Paul founded Leaf & Sky in 2020 and continue today carrying conservation information about native bees and plants through their eco-friendly, artisan goods—plus giving back through collaborating with non-profit organizations dedicated to ecology education or native landscape.
